Palworld Mutated Eggs — What Do They Hatch Into?

The honest answer is that nobody knows yet, and anyone who tells you otherwise is guessing. The mutation species table has never been datamined — it isn’t in the game files the way breed power and the combo table are. So instead of inventing a chart, this page logs what players have actually hatched, with counts and sources, and says plainly where the reports disagree.

Player reports · not datamined46 reports · 37 pairs · 40/299 PalsUpdated 2026-07-17

How complete is this? Not very — and that number matters more than the log does. We have observations for 37 parent pairs out of 44,851 possible ones. That is 0.08%. Most entries below have been seen exactly once. Treat this as a notebook, not a lookup table.

What every mutated egg has in common

These are the parts multiple independent players report the same way. They’re the closest thing to settled facts on this page.

The report log

Every row is something a player says they hatched. Where one pair has produced the same mutant several times, the count is in the third column — those are the rows worth trusting. Single sightings are just single sightings.

Where the reports disagree

This is the useful part. Every one of these is currently being stated as fact somewhere by someone — and every one of them has a credible player report pointing the other way.

Is the mutant species predictable from the parents?

  • Looks near-deterministic per pair

    Jormuntide Ignis x2 → Eidrolon Ignis reported 3/3, 2/2 and 6/6 by two independent players. Aegidron x2 → Aegidron 10/10. Dupin x2 → Whalaska Ignis 3/3. Hartalis → Aegidron 5/5. Mammorest x2 → Moldron 3/3.u/mogin, u/Purple_Pack_5740, u/SimianRex, u/Tawny2021, u/zerol1ve

  • Same pair gives different species

Shadowbeak x2 produced four different mutants for one player. Eidrolon gave Ophydia and Knocklem Ignis. Jetragon + Ophydia gave Dualith Noct and Eidrolon Ignis.u/LoboSandia, u/Reakaron, u/CyberAceKina

  • Refinement: parents' passives may be part of the input

'It's always the same Pal in the mutated egg, if you don't change the parents, including their passives.' Nobody has tested this.u/Entgegnerz

What is the mutation rate?

  • ~5-10% on normal cake

    Estimated across 8 breeding farms.u/flyrmyr

  • ~1-2%

    Counted: 3 in ~200 eggs, 2 in ~150, 2 in ~100.u/mogin

  • 1% base / 3% with Deluxe Vegetable Cake

    Stated without a method.a widely-shared PSA

Do the mutation-boosting cakes actually work?

  • No effect observed

'The mutation boosting cakes seem to have no effect for my save.'u/flyrmyr

  • Raises the rate to ~3%

    Stated without a method.a widely-shared PSA

Does egg size determine the pool of possible mutants?

  • Yes

'The mutation egg size large/huge etc defines the pool of hatchable pals.'u/flyrmyr

  • Counter-example from the same player

'Common egg parents (yakumo line) has dropped a few huge mutations though, so it doesn't always match the size the parents would usually produce.'u/flyrmyr

Can a mutation produce a tower boss or legendary?

  • No — they're excluded

'Mutations are restricted not to ever make these unique pals.'u/sansetsukon47

  • Yes

'Mutation eggs have a chance to have legend, gotten a few aedrigon with legend.'u/Vehemence1376

Are Grintale's duplicated eggs still mutated?

  • Implied no

Wrote '(not counting grintale dupes)' when tallying mutations.u/LoboSandia

  • Yes

Credited Grintale for getting 4 mutated eggs.the GRINTALE thread OP

Do mutants actually have better stats?

  • It's the free condensation, not the stats

'Mutated pals CAN already have condensed LVs. THIS is the reason for better stats. BUT when max condensed both a normal and a mutated pal will have the exact same.' The follow-up question got no reply.u/Chaz1890

Is the mutant drawn from the same tier as the parents?

  • Disproven

A pair of Woolipop — a starter-tier Pal — produced an Aegidron. One report kills both the 'same tier' theory and the 'average breed power' theory.u/Suppytkyngyy, u/Intelligent_Money902

How to help

The only way this gets solved is more hatches. If you get a mutated egg, the useful details are: both parents (and their passives — one report suggests those matter), what hatched, how many mutated eggs you’ve had from that same pair, and which cake you used. The counts are what separate a pattern from a coincidence.

Reports here are collected from public r/Palworld threads and credited to whoever posted them. If yours is listed and you’d rather it weren’t, or we’ve got a detail wrong, say so and it comes off.

Why this page looks different

The rest of PalRoute is marked 1.0 Verified because the numbers are read straight out of the game files. This page can’t claim that, so it doesn’t. It’s a report log — the badge says so, the counts say so, and the disagreements are left in rather than tidied away. For the parts we can verify, see the breeding guide.
